riptide - vance joy -indie folk pop genre -low budget, unique style music video -montage editing -- a wide range of contrasting shots juxtaposed (often through hard cut jumps) to convey a large amount of information: -  The editing together of seemingly disparate images invites  audience interpretation  and candidates could consider Eisenstein’s concept of “intellectual montage” where new ideas emerge from the collision  of images and generate new meanings that might not otherwise exist:  For example the sequence where a  male and a female suddenly turn their  heads to look at something off-screen  and the next shot shows a seemingly unrelated pile of dollar bills - consider the  connections  audiences are being asked  to make through this use of montage. Many of these cuts also have a clear  link to the lyrics   themselves and candidates might explore the visual  metaphors and possible significance  of these...
music genre - indie  indie music isn't a definite style of music, but most indie bands are influenced by each other causing a similar sound. the sound is melodic, the instruments are simple but well textured . usually includes a simple but original  guitar riff , another guitar riff layered to complement it, bass doing the same, simple drum beat (but fitting the song well) either a keyboard or violin or something to bring out the underlying melody, and soft vocals, usually well harmonised . the lyrics are powerfully emotional (but not whiney). they spark emotion but they don't talk about how their lives suck (very tasteful)  David Lynch - film director - American filmmaker, painter, musician, actor and photographer - best known for films such as Eraserhead, Blue Violet and Mulholland Drive. - born 20th January 1946 - three time Oscar  nominee
dove beauty campaign dove were criticised at their attempt at showing diversity as they used the same body type for all their models. people were content with the range of culture and race however not varying their models body types made the campaign seem fake and insensitive and that the images were unrealistic.  however, some people said that it made them feel better about themselves because now they had seen the truth that models photos are heavily edited. people also said that it had pure intentions and portrayed a good message. dove sales actually increased after the campaign. I think that the campaign attempted to create a meaningful ideology and there were positive aspects to it however I think they could improve their diversity and maybe think a little deeper about what they are showing to women around the world.

Laura Mulvey's male gaze can be applied here. Liesbet van Zoonens feminist theory can also be applied here.   gender - positive representations of men 😎men represented as wealthy, hardworking businessmen and dominant 😎mise en scene men dressed smart  which asserts power as they can do whatever they like and are not sexualised but women are.                                                ...
